my first DSLR.
I had used SLR back in college that was my uncle’s Ricoh SLR camera. but having film develop just to be appreciate gets my budget to zero. back then how i wish to buy a DSLR, i get jealous from my advo colleague bcoz they got to afford one, I can’t even buy one old skul cam.
but that was in the past, i got to have a paying job but still can’t one, because of my other interest (the God-damned Batman). Some my officemate got to buy a DSLR even ikkuh, I felt left out. I was planing to loan a brand new cam this year, but I got married and was anxious to spend money I was saving for a family.
But one Wednesday after a lunch out with the CGA team, my good friend-co-worker-photographer-ex-roomate-kabarkada Alex was on the 11th floor and trying to sell a 400d cannon SLR.
well the deal was sweet with all the additional. even the camera is almost 2yrs old I got this feeling that I always get when I canvas for my Batman Toys…. baka di ko na makita to ulet. the deal was too good to let it slip. i even make tawad (yuck con˜o). but some colleague of mine said it was a good deal, emer also wanted to take the deal but he gave way for me. I talked it to my wife and she says it up to me.
then i bought from sir.jek and find my self fulfilled with my new toy.

Just in time for the long vacation, because my relatives from US will be coming home and i can boast my new toys.
and just in time for my baby… can’t wait to see that one coming out

What to expect here??
-Well I’ve planned to upload, hopefully, a weekly comic strip. to continue the Giosdesk Comics I’ve started way back in highschool. I’ve always dreamed of having my own comic strip on a famous newspaper but didn’t have any luck on having a break, except in highschool and college, to a professional comic artist career. I just wanted to pursue one of my obsessions of being famous like jess abrera or pol medina and my new idol Freely Abrigo ehehehehe
-Im also be posting my works here and well my rate of different services. As bugsy says: “Will Photoshop for Food” and of course the price is reasonable “Kasing Ganda Ngunit Hindi Kasing Mahal”.
-I’m also posting here some projects that might come to my mind or any creative stuff I wanted to share to you guys.

It is also our 4th year anniversary… well belated anniversary. 
We got the Limited Edition CD with the On The Either Side Documentary in it.
After a few hours of waiting for the band to play and had us glimpse of what they cooked in almost 3 years in making a follow up album. Its nice to see them live and feel their music first-hand. Their sound became even more better, with their ecstatic rhythm and soulful melody of the vocals of Armi, and the thing I liked about them, even from their first album is the way Los riffs his Guitar also beat and rhythm that Ean and Paul delivers in their sets. The Band had blend more on their musical background and a more different feeling arises after every song. As I sum up that musical experience as “Orgasmic“.

… Fast forward to present, I’m browsing the net for images of Bioman that i can compose for my multiply layout, then i got to stumble on this artist that he recompose the Bioman and make it into a more cartoon characters. His Art was good and the movement was very comic. yet I have no idea about the text because his blog is in French?? I think.
Its already 12 midnight Sept. 1, 2008. I was waiting for an FX or Jeep to ride home in Buting. Suddenly this guy walk right in front of me and said, “Is this the only Mandarin oriental around in Paseo??” I replied, “OO yan na yun!!”. The guy who look like a reggae version Roderick Paulate then said, “Im not a bad person of some sort, I just really need your help. I’m Balikbayan and I was supposed to meet my brother here around 3pm. I can’t check in the hotel because i left my wallet in my pad back in Ayala Alabang. All I got is some Pilipino coins which I don’t even recognize.” Well to think that he already waited all his life for his brother, I don’t know where the hell is Ayala Alabang… I haven’t been there. The guy ask if he could borrow some money for he can ride a taxi and he promised that he will pay me back first thing in the morning. Well my office is just on the other side of the road. Then the guy ask what size of shoes im wearing so he could give me pair of shoes when he pays me back. Well I’m really willing to help the guy, and I even pulled out a 500 peso bill from my wallet but very hesitant to give the guy the money right away. I asked him if he could give me anything that so we can exchange the next morning once he pays me… collateral. The guys wearing a jagged maong pants, striped T-shirt and a gold watch. He had a beard and his hair is kind a afro. I asked if he had a calling card, he said he has none. He try to find something in his pocket and he got a pack of marlboro lights and a cheap LCC lighter… green. I was trying to find a pen in my bag so I can write down his name or my name and some contact details to make sure i could contact him the next day. then i suddenly felt my cellphone and had an idea that i will just take his picture on my camera phone. Right after I suggested that i will take a picture of him, he disagreed and say thanks and walked away, then the Roderick Paulate look-a-like calls out a taxi and went away.
Yesterday and today, Toycon Ph 2008. Hell… Naranasan ko na rin ang lumuha ng ROCK SALT… tsk tsk… Nasa kamay ko na… hindi ko pa mabili… hell’. yesterday was a great experience for me to see some showcase of some collectors and enthusiast, like me, gather for this big event. It was my first so I’m pretty much overwhelmed.

Before I left I was dazzled by these Rock’n Roll Goddesses who call themselves “My Odessa” they really rocked the house!!! They rip it first with their own version of Imago’s Rainsong (nice drummer) and when the slash it up with the first note of Sweet Child of Mine by the Guns and Roses… I started to shout HELL YEAH!!!!

I came upon this book of LAA, Mga Kwento ng Pag-ibig, a collection of some of her stories about…lalalalalalaLOVE!!
I was waiting for my college friends at a Resto named St. Bede’s Kitchen at Judge Jimenez Street Kamuning Quezon City. By the way, the food at St. Bede’s Kitchen are very delightful and delicious. Arvin cooked up a very interesting Bicol Express, and I love the Bulalo Steak, uber satisfied. Also the Tilapia with the sauce and spice… Oooohh Wow!!
Where was I? the book. so while waiting for my friends (most are former Advocate members… very old) hehehe I sat down at the couch and picked up some book just to pass the time. And I came upon this book, really I was thinking of reading Nick Joaquin’s Manila, My Manila. But I was discourage because its going to be a long read so i picked the LAA book.
I read the first story and I find it interesting. Its about a little girl on how she sees the Love Story of her ninang and Badong. ti’s actually a sad story. The most part I liked in this story was how the author approach her audience. She wrote the lines of that innocent girl as she was trying to figure out why her ninang was crying, while she talks to Badong and comparing him to Tony. The girl’s ninang is caught between her real love Badong whose a small time basurero whom her ninang and the girl really love. and Tony, a rich guy who can give everything to her ninang but her ninang loves Badong most.
It’s facinating how one little girl sees our world of complications on to her simple point of view. when her ninang was crying and doesn’t want to eat, she ask her if she may call Badong so that her ninang will feel better though her Lola doesn’t and told her not to get involve, yet on the little girl’s mind she was very confused because she thinks and feels that what she do is the best to make her ninang well. My Favorite part (the last line) is: (im gonna recall the lines) ganun ba badong pag kinakasal? Umiiyak si ninang kase ikakasal na sya, kaya ba sya umiiyak? Oh Badong ba’t umiiyak ka din?? Ikakasal ka na rin ba??
hehehe I think my english is bad.
Don’t forget to visit St. Bede’s Kitchen at Judge Jimenez Street Kamuning Quezon City. Where great food are served. Also u can see many good paintings on the walls. The place itself has a feel good ambiance. Good for dates.
